The Role of Hormones in Ageing

An obvious sign of ageing involves the change in hormones in both men and women. Hormones are chemicals that coordinate different functions in your body by carrying messages through your blood to your organ, skin, muscles and other tissues. These signals tell your body what to do and when to do it. Therefore, hormones are essential for life and your health.

Impact of Hormonal Imbalance

Hormonal Imbalance increases the risk of getting cancer like prostate cancer, chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, high sugar level, high cholesterol level. Furthermore, other external factors that contribute to the ageing process include adopting an unhealthy lifestyle, exposure to a polluted environment, pressures from work, virus infection, and chronic stress.

Studies have shown that ageing process will have an adverse effect on the regenerative ability of stem cells. These stem cells provide new cells for the body as it grows and replace specialized cells that are damaged or lost. They have two unique properties that enable them to do this: They can divide over and over again to produce new cells. Moreover, as they divide, they can change into other types of cells that make up the body.
